      I've now got my printer working fairly well that i've got it running around 1800-2000mm/min. The only problem i'm having (Which was also a problem running it at 800mm/min) is a persistent "Warning: High temperature on drivers 1" message that pops up a few hours into a print (some of my prints are upwards of 40hrs long). When it pops up is random, but it always does, sometimes 2hrs other times 10-12hrs. A little background on the setup:

      Duetwifi w/ X5 expansion. These are mounting back to back (inside a case, similar to the Ocicase on thingiverse) with a roughly 1 1/2"x1 1/2" channel that connects the backside of the boards under the drivers for cooling. This channel is connected to a 40mm fan (currently oriented to blow air through) and opens to the exterior of the case with no "grill" to limit restriction. The case also has a 2nd 40mm fan that is on the X5 side to evacuate air (through grills around the perimeter of the sides of the case), also for cooling whatever else may need it (such at the SSR (which doesnt even get warmer than room temp).

      combination of nema17's and 23's running at 2.4a each

      12hrs into the 15hr print last night things got so hot that it began missing steps on the Y axis (about 1/2 the size of the part,, which is a 14" wide piece, so pretty substantial qty. or missed steps.

      Currently i have a household fan blown directly onto the drivers of the duetwifi just to keep the warning messages at bay and even with this, the drivers are very hot to the touch.

      Any suggestions on helping keep this thing cool? Slowing it down is really not something i want to do (it defeats the purpose of building this thing if i do).

      I have a few extra 50mm fans. My current thought is to make up a 40 to 50mm adapter to replace the channel fan with the 50mm one, and then print another case cover that would allow a third fan to blow air directly onto the x and y drivers.

        Blowing air directly at the drivers is not the recommended way of cooling the Duet. Please read the wiki page on mounting and cooling the Duet.

          I currently have it setup for cooling as suggested on the wiki and it appears to be insufficient for my needs. The 40mm "channel" fan directs air directly under the drivers on the underside of the boards.

            Does it direct the air along the line of drivers, preferably on both sides of the board? Blowing air directly at the board will typically result in a dead zone in the middle.

              It Does. The channel is two vertical walls the separate the backside of the Wifi and X5 boards driver location and then has a Fan at one end to push or pull air through that channel.
              Pushing (blowing) air through has a better effect on cooling than pulling air (sucking) through the channel.

              If you were to think of the channel as a Square, the Top and bottom of the square would be the Boards (with the drivers on opposing sides) and the vertical walls would make up the "channel" i have for cooling.

                But placed a X5 board back to back over the cooling channel with the wifi.

                  Maybe you should try a blower fan, to get more airflow in that channel?
