This would really be handy, especially if you are running multiple printers.

Is this for the Duet WiFi, the Duet Ethernet, or both? You can already set the IP address for the Duet WiFi along with the SSID and password by sending the appropriate M587 command using the keypad.

A few times that I have attempted to set an IP address (with subnet and gateway) for my DuetWifi from the PanelDue's Console with keyboard input, I found that I reached a limit for maximum length.

Good point, I'll check the maximum line length and see if I need to implement horizontal scrolling in the input line.

i am currently using the duet ethernet for evaluation for one of our clients for a number of printers.

also noticed if i scan the ip using a net scanner, it does not return the name of the printer.

but this does work on the wifi unit.

That's correct, the Duet Ethernet doesn't yet support MDNS.
