Tips & Tricks please!
-
So I just bought myself a "little" Christmas present wich will be the Duet Wifi with a 5" display for my 3D Printer.
I had a Anet A8 wich I converted to a AM8 and then to AM8 with linear rails
Using a RAMPS 1.4 board with TMC2208 on all axis and extruder. (0.9 step angle)Now at first it was a big difference going from the A4988 to the TMC2208 drivers.
But recently I'm getting issues with the noise again, mainly because I can't get the acceleration settings etc dialed in and I'm hoping this will be fixed with the DUET board.Besides all that.
Could you guys maybe provide me with information/tips and or tricks on how to set it all up?
I'm running a BLTouch aswell.
And running on 12VThanks in advance!

Welcome to the Duet. I think you'll like it.
Main documentation is here. https://duet3d.dozuki.com/
If you're not familiar with reprap firmware: https://duet3d.dozuki.com/#Section_If_you_are_not_familiar_with_Duet_electronics_or_RepRapFirmware
Things you'll need to know about your printer to get reprap firmware configured: https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Going_from_Marlin_on_Arduino_to_RepRapFirmware_on_Duet
Starter configurator tool: https://configurator.reprapfirmware.org/Start
Getting things connected: https://duet3d.dozuki.com/#Section_Hardware_and_Wiring_Gen_2_Duets
Cartesian setup guide: https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/ConfiguringRepRapFirmwareCartesianPrinter
BLTouch: https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Connecting_a_Z_probe#Section_BLTouch
And if you search the forum for Anet A8 or AM8 you may find some configurations already worked out by others.
The more reading you do ahead of time, the easier things will go.

Thanks for all the usefull links!
And that's exactly why I posted this, to get as much information as possible to read up onThank you again!

So after some more reading and such I noticed that it's recommended to use 0.9° step angle stepper motors if you want high accuracy, but then with 24V
Currently my extruder is running a 1.8° step angle and everything else is on 0.9° step angle with 12V.
What would be the recommended settings for acceleration etc then on the duet?Or would you guys recommend to upgrade to a 24V PSU?

start with the values from your malin config.
for 12v vs 24v i suggest watching this video

@veti Thanks for the reply.
And that's my current problem.
I don't know what the optimal values are atm, I changed them so many times because either my printer was vibrating to much or it was way to loud..Kinda looking for some instructions on how to properly tune these values.
I'm kinda aiming at 100mm/s print speed or so for fast prints and around 60-70 for more detailed, but would like it to be as silent as possible.. -

It's delta printers in particular for which 0.9deg motors provide the most benefit, and for which I recommend using 24V power when using 0.9deg tower motors.
You can use the motor EMF calculator at https://reprapfirmware.org/ to find out whether using 12V power will significantly limit the top speed of your printer.

there are some users who posted their configs here.
