The purpose of the diode is to prevent excessive voltage being fed into the end stop input if the ground connection fails when you power the sensor from 12V or 24V. But that sensor can work down to 4.8V, and if you power it from 5V then I think you can safely omit the diode.

You might be able to get away with 5v on the Z-probe input, I wouldn't try it on the end stop inputs, neither scenario is ideal. Why take chances.
