    Quick question about connecting inductive Z probes

      I recently ordered a Z probe (LJ12 A3–4-Z/AX) which will arrive tomorrow. I thought it would be plug and play on my WiFi 1.03 but I just figured this only applies to 1.04 and later. I have a couple of 1N4148 and 1N5818 diodes laying around. The Z probe guide states that "a small signal silicon diode such as 1N4148 works for some people.." but that doesn't sound too convincing. Should I order proper signal schottky diodes or will a signal or schottky diode do the trick?

      The guide also specifically states NPN normally open in the capacitive and inductive sensor part. The one I ordered is NC. Does this make any difference besides M574? I can't image it will but I thought I'd ask since I'm already posting here.

        The only difference with a NC NPN sensor is that you need to use parameter i0 in the M558 command instead of i1.

        The 1N5818 can be rather leaky so it wouldn't offer such good protection as a BAT43 or BAT85. These diodes are readily available on eBay as well as from the usual electronic component distributors.
