External Drivers on X Y Z Testpins

  • Hey there,
I just wanted to ask if it is possible to connect external drivers to the test pins
if I would use differential linedrivers ( the same way as used on the extension board)
Looking over the schematics I did not see a reason why this shouldn't be possible.
So if it is only a warranty reason concerned to the mechanical strength of the test pads please let me know.

On the other hand if there is an electrical reason, which would it be?
Port pin drive current should be sufficient. (Capacitive load problem ? )

Actually I would really like to use the entire available ports as external stepper drivers so I would really appreciate an purposeful answer 😉

    Best regards,
    Stefan

  • Furthermore,

if it is not possible using the pins for external drivers, would removing the TMC stepper driver resolve this ?

If you just use the step and direction pins and leave the external drivers permanently enabled then I think it should work. But use the other 7 sets of outputs first. Don't forget that the Duet WiFi/Ethernet can drive some types of Nema 23 motor directly.

Looks like your connection to Duet3D was lost, please wait while we try to reconnect.
