Can 5V optical encoders be used to measure filament flow? I tried connecting them to E0 endstop input with a 3.3V endstop power but the encoder doesn't work at such low voltage, it needs ~4V minimum.
Is it safe to connect the encoder to a 5V pin on either the DUET or DUEX?

Please provide details of the encoder. It may be possible to run it from 3.3V by changing one resistor.

Looks like you will need to power it from 5V, which you can get from the expansion connector or from the PanelDue connector. You can feed the output directly into an endstop input of your rev. 1.04 Duet.
