Kossel XL with flying extruder

It's pretty much a standard t3p3 kit with the addition of a flying extruder. The extruder is a bit heavier than I would like and I have added a counterweight to stop the hot end descending when the steppers are off. I tried a lighter stepper for the extruder but it wasn't strong enough.
Still early days but seems to work well with various PLAs and TPU.

nice ! I'm planning on doing something similar. Titan extruder here.
Also planning on replacing the duct by a donut, waiting for the blower to arrive
Why have you mounted the wiring loom breakout on the side btw ?

Hi, I put the breakout board on the side (rather than above the effector as per usual) so that there would be nothing to impede the movement of the extruder. But looking at the distance between the effector and the extruder it probably could have stayed in the original position.
I have scad+stl files for the flying extruder parts if they are of interest to you.

Pity that the Nimble is not available yet, then you can have direct drive without the weight.

The counter weight is a 250g reel of solder!
I haven't noticed any adverse pulling effects. If you move the effector by hand you don't feel much pull.
I have noticed some low frequency ripple in perimeters when the model has sharp corners and I assume that is due to the extruder bouncing around. It's not really a problem as I tend to print most things fairly slowly as I am more interested in quality than speed.
