    • Ease of use

Man oh man, am I happy with this stuff!
Just received my new Duet board and I have to say, setting it up is so easy! Made a config at https://configurator.reprapfirmware.org/ and downloaded the zip file. Uploaded it in the Duet and presto! One running system.

      Thank you guys!

      Absolutely flawless!
Did the whole upgrade, 3 files at once and it just did what it was supposed to do. Perfection!

      Thanks David.

      And anther suggestion.
In other systems I loved the dotted line in the temp graphs, showing the set temperature, so you can see how far the actual temp has to go.
Just a better visual reminder of what temp was set.

    • Panic stop

      Hi All,
I am having trouble with calibration and heads crashing, so it is logical that I came up with the following question:

What would it take to make a panic button that will stop whatever is happening and move the head away from the bed (or vise versa)
Ideally I would like a big red physical button next to the printer. I do not like the button on the webpage, not tactile enough for me.
Also, the button simply stops everything, but in the mean time my hot nozzle is still pressed into the bed or print.

So, what would it take to make this? Any ideas or suggestions?

I love it when people simply know stuff. Learned something new.
Just amazes me every time to see the support and knowledge on this forum.

    • RE: Panic stop

      Nice discussion.
But indeed, the object is to save the print and or the bed, so it would have to be an interrupt that stops the current action even while it is still being executed and the head lifted up. (or the bed dropped)

I now have a few holes and scratches on my bed surface, because the head keeps crashing into it and wants to keep moving. Horrible sounds. Emergency stop will kill the motion, but the hot end is still cooking my bed surface.

As for the button? This one would do: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/600V-10A-Trun-To-Release-Waterproof-Red-Sign-Emergency-STOP-Push-Button-Switch-High-quality-Button/32697486150.html?spm=2114.30010308.3.162.soHaTg&ws_ab_test=searchweb201556_7,searchweb201602_3_10057_10056_10065_10068_10055_10054_10069_10059_10058_10073_10017_10070_10060_10061_10052_10062_10053_10050_10051,searchweb201603_2&btsid=f78e07d8-0996-46af-92b5-e54299d1779a

    • All Thermistors now read 2000C

      My Delta was printing fine.
This morning I switched it on again after a few days of no activity.
Now all thermistors read 2000C. All three of them. The bed, the hot end and a testing thermistor for sensing water temp.

      What could be the cause?
I checked the wiring, all are still connected. Besides, it is all three at the same time.

    • Part cooling duct for a 5015 fan

In the middle of designing a part cooling solution for the Smart Effector. A customer was asking for a 5015 fan duct that will handle a Volcano. I went a little further and this design will handle both a normal V6 and Volcano.

The one worry I have is if this fan brace will interfere with the bed sensing capabilities of the Smart Effector.

The only place where the brace touches the PCB is around the ball bolts. As I don't have a Smart effector (yet) does anybody have an opinion? Thanks.

    • RE: Strange behaviour in G1 movement

      Hi Tony,
Nah, it is just that because I have 0,0 set in the center, and not left front, it comes out a bit strange, but it works nicely.

To pick up a tool, in the toolchange macro, I have to go outside the print boundaries. Now I do that with a relative statement with the S parameter set. It works, but is there a different way to do it?

      Man I could kiss you!
      Yep, that solved it.
I can now move everywhere at speed with no S parameter.

      Thank you.
It still feels odd to define Z300 as minima and Z0 as maxima but it does the trick.
OK now I can continue with the real tests. Thank you again.

      No, didn't make any difference.
It is consistent. Everything I try doesn't make any difference.

Since I don't have any of that connected yet, not even the Z stepper, I think I will comment it all out and reduce the config file to the absolute minimum.

It is a normally open switch.
I have downloaded the combined file and installed that.

Nothing I do, makes a change in the behaviour.

Even with no endstops connected, I still have the strange movement. It will only move at speed if I add the S1 or S2 parameter. Otherwise it is crawling at a snails pace.

    • RE: Strange behaviour in G1 movement

I have confirmed that the endstop plug is wired correctly. All leads go into the correct connector, both on the endstop and on the board.
The fact that the LED on the board is on, when the endstop is NOT triggered makes me think there is something wrong in the config. But I cannot work out what is wrong.

Unless it has absolutely nothing to do with the endstops. But then it is even more strange behavior.

One more thing, I have updated the firmware to the last version, so I am thinking hardware/config.
