Duet Wifi + Raspberry 3 and Repetier Server
-
I have never used repetier server, how does it control other electronics, via gcode over USB?
-
Both i would say.
You connect it over usb. And then send the Gcodes -
Then I assume it would work as RepRapFirmware can give the responses over USB that Marlin or Repetier expect, see:
https://duet3d.com/wiki/G-code#M555:_Set_compatibility
However does the server expect any special G-Codes that only Repetier uses? -
I dont think so.
I mean i got a Repetier System a Marlin System and a Smoothieware System runing on it
-
I don't know Repetier Server either. What function does it perform?
-
Ever heared of Octoprint?
Basicly it's a Standalone Printserver. You can slice over it. Manage the printer ( Settings etc. ) make Timelapse or Videos with a cam connected and so on.
-
Octoprint and the duetwifi web interface serve the same function. One running direct from duet and the other running from raspberry pi connected as a host to the printer. I have both systems.
You can use Octoprint to control a duet machine but it's doubling up on kit as duetwifi has its own WiFi and web control system.
Octoprint and duetwebcontrol each have some features better than one another. If I were Chrishamm I'd coordinate with the maker of Octoprint, between them they'd make the killer web interface for 3d printers/cnc. I appreciate this may be from a programming point of view impossible.

I know that the Duet Wifi has a Webinterface etc.
But I muss the Cam Support. That's why i would like to use Repetier Server. And a 17" Touch Screen.
I like the Touch Interface from Repetier and that you can controle more then one printer at once -
From what you describe it will work with the DuetWifi and well
I know that for some people this is doubling up, but having a built in camera is nice.
-
At last i would like to share some impressions of my next build.

I am experiementing with repetier server on a RPI3 but i can not get it to connect. The com port should be /dev/ttyAMC0 as far as I can tell but it never sees the printer any one have any luck?
