Also, I am not sure how to tell the machine to move in mm, all I have on the web controller are steps it appears.

Can you elaborate on what this means?

I'm using the web controller to manipulate the location of the head, but it does not appear to move in millimeters. I was wondering if it was possible to change this? Or if there was a g-code I could enter to move it a specific amount?

All axes report in millimetres. If its not moving the distance reported, your steps per mm, set in config.g by M92 are wrong. Post your config.g and we'll check it, along with a description of your motors, pulleys and belts.

I'm using the stock parts (stepper motors and belts) from Folgertech for the FT-6, it's a Cartesian setup. I'm not sure what other info to include ๐Ÿ˜ž

These look like the default numbers (as do your thermistor settings), and almost certainly Z is wildly wrong! Anyone with an FT-6 know the right numbers?

From https://folgertech.com/collections/3d-printer-full-kits/products/folger-tech-ft-6-3d-printer-kit your Z axis is "T8 4 Start Lead Screw 8mm pitch". With standard 1.8ยบ motors, your Z steps per mm should be 400.

Are X and Y not moving the right distance either? Can you command it to move 100mm and measure how far it really moves?

droftarts, after measuring it appears X and Y are correct.

I changed the steps for the Z motor, but now it moves extremely slowly and the measurements are not accurate? I hit z-5 on the web controller and it moves down 2mm.

It sounds like maybe your Z axis motors are 0.9 degree rather than 1.8 degree. So instead of 400 steps per mm, try 800.

                    That's a lot better, Z-5 measures at 5mm. Z-25 measured at 28mm though approximately.

Z-0.05 I am assuming is half a mm?

No, half a mm would be 0.5. 0.05 is half of 0.1mm.

In your case, due to the motor and leadscrew pairing, you can't actually accurately move 0.05 mm at a time. Your single step motion resolution is 0.02mm per motor step.

You can actually right click on that button and a popup will come up that lets you specify a different movement amount. Since your step resolution is 0.02 you could use 0.06.

This also means that the optimal layer height for your printer is multiples of 0.02

That's super handy to know, I really appreciate you guys' help. And I didn't know that about the web controller! Geeze, I'm learning a ton.

I hope this isn't too much hassle for any of you. Excited to get this thing going and really dig in to the code. Once I get the IR probe calibrated and sorted I think I'll be able to go from there. But if you guys see anything else in my code to change that you think would help would be awesome.

I was using that and DC42's instructions for the IR Mini, my original post was about an error I was receiving about the IR Probe stopping.

"Z probe was not triggered during probing move
                            Stopped at height -0.000 mm"

Except that the reading from the head I am getting is -3.50...
