I finished building the railcore II ZLT printer from a kit a couple of weeks ago. After a week of getting the bugs out and tuning, I’ve been printing with it 4 days fairly consistent. It’s was working so well I was able to get three FFF files fine tuned with simplify 3-D. After a print yesterday evening I went to sleep with the printer still printing. The print finished fine but the printer stayed on most of the night. After work today I tried to start another print and homed all the axis. The X and Y axis home with no problem, then the carriage centers in the bed and drops the probe. The bed did not move. I tried directly sending code through the console. Nothing works. After looking around a little I found that the board does not show up when I use M115. However when I Turn the printer on the BL touch probe cycles.
When I home all, the heater light for “E2 Heat” lights up showing that it is activating the probe. How can the board not be showing up but also still activating the probe? Also there is no holding torque on the motors. I have 3 z motors connected to my Duex5 board and a BL touch in PWM1 or E2 heater. The 3 steppers are in E2, E3 and E4. Everything was working great until today. I have looked at the fuses. I double checked that the negative terminal connecting the two boards together are very tight. I unplugged and flipped around the ribbon cable. The only thing plugged into the board are the three steppers, PWM for the BL touch probe, the unused bed thermistor, power terminals, and the ribbon cable.

Hi, please keep it to one thread. Let's use this one since it has the most information.

What exactly happens when you turn the printer on?
The BLTouch lights up. That's a good sign.
What LEDs light up on the Duet and Duex?
Can you connect to the DWC?
        How are you sending M115?
        Do you have a PanelDue?
Have you connected via USB terminal?
If you can send commands and get replies, what do you get from M122?

That's why the DueX stepper drivers are not working. Your DueX5 appears to have developed a fault (it's possible but unlikely to be a faulty ribbon cable), and I am happy to approve a warranty replacement for it.

I will try the new cable this weekend. I will also try to reinstall the firmware from scratch. If none of that works, I will send it back. I appreciate the help, thanks for getting back to me.

With a new cable the board still does not work. I purchased another board for a separate printer. I installed it and everything works fine. Looks like I had a dud.

contact the vendor and refer to dc42's post approving a warranty replacement or https://www.duet3d.com/warranty if purchased from duet3d directly.
