Silicone heated bed help
-
I have a duet wifi on the way and I have a 12v 280w silicone heated mat I would like to replace my pc heated bed with but I need to know what I can use to connect this to the duet wifi thanks

It's a shame you didn't switch to 24V and use a 24V bed heater, because that would have made things easier. You need a good DC-DC SSR to handle the 23.3A that your bed heater needs. See the last section of https://duet3d.com/wiki/Connecting_a_bed_heater#Low_voltage_.2812V_or_24V.29_DC_bed_heater.

Switching is always an option all I would have to do really is swap the heaters on the hot end…no biggie and get a new power supply and bed heater could u recommend a good power supply and bed heater for a 24v system I'm running a folgertech ft-5 if that helps but I've gone far enough to upgrade to 32 bit electronics converting to 24 v is ok with me I can use it on 12v till I get the power and bend heater and hot end stuff together thanks for your help I really appreciate it

If you switch to a 24v you should get the LulzBot TAZ heated bed here https://www.lulzbot.com/store/parts/24v-silicone-heater. They are a foil etched silicone heater instead of a wire one from China. These beds are made in Canada and already have quick disconnect connectors on it that are high quality. These also only pull 360W! I have not found a better heater.

See https://duet3d.com/wiki/Choosing_the_power_supply for advice on power supplies.

You may be better if your going to change the Bed Heater anyway to get an AC one driven with a dc-ac SSR which are relatively cheap.
I don't know the FT5 so don't know the design or size of the bed to be honest so can't really comment on the suitability of either option in your case just another Idea and one which wont need you to start swapping lots of other bits at the same time
