I would greatly appreciate the inclusion of backup and restore functionality.
The DWC comes close to this with downloaded zip of selected files in sys or macros, but I wish to have a 'one-button execution' to make a downloadable zip file of ALL sd-card contents except for print files / g-code files.
I'd figure the restore function would be very similar to the existing update function via zip file.

      Cheers,
      Kolbi

@Phaedrux Thanks, I messed around with that + cron on my home server last night. It works, but it kills my inner child that DWC doesn't already have this. Maybe not kills, more like asphalt rash I guess.

Who knows, there may be a future in which plugins for DWC allow all kinds of crazy things...

That would be awesome and accelerate the capabilities that DWC would/could present - I think this a leading reason why octoprint is so favorable to some people, just not my cup of tea.
Plugins for paneldue would be fantastic too, but now I'm getting greedy.

Nothing is impossible, except maybe that.

@Phaedrux hehe, I did do some poking around under the hood and then said; nope, nope, nope.

The PanelDue is great for what it is, but if you're looking for more expansive options a tablet running DWC is the answer.

                    Or DueUI https://forum.duet3d.com/topic/13970/dueui-release-3-0-1-beta2-available

I think that the duet board has additional state that is not reflected in the SD card. E.g. the firmware that we set with M997. (?).

I agree, I think the paneldue is great. In general, I prefer the operator interface's on equipment to be as simplistic as possible and just maintain the core components to get the job done. With this, I think some functions could get stripped off the paneldue and others added. And then for maintenance and such (like backups and restores - cough cough), DWC be used.
                        Just my 2 cents... 😉

@zapta I didn't think about that particular facet, but I do think it should all get thrown into a backup and restore function.
I typically work with industrial and military systems where this functionality is a hard requirement - granted; the duet2 is not either of these categories. Still, people do rely on them to get a job done, so it is warranted in my eyes.
