@Trideo For a BLTouch on a Duet 085 or Duet 2:

Thanks @Stephen6309, actually we are trying to reduce printer wire types and use a "standard" 4 wires connection for BLTOUCH should help us a lot. Our technical team want to try a 4 wire connection, shorting one negative wire, so before doing a bad move, I preferred to ask here
Thanks

@Trideo I am using 4 wire connection with genuine bltouch 3.1 without any issues, just connect grounds together, or just leave black not connected (they are connected on BL Touch board I belive).

At least the genuine 3.0 smart I've got here have the two ground connections common on the bltouch board, so wiring up just one should be fine. Not sure about other versions or imitations but easy enough to test with a multimeter before wiring it.
On the subject, is it documented what type of connector the 5 pin on the sensor is? I've seen suggestions to both picoblade and some jst but nothing very definitive.

I connected the 2 ground wires together and it's been fine

About BLTouch connector
I used the 5 pin version of this recently. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000708135064.html seems to fit both the genuine and cloned BL Touch, but the catches are just ever so slightly smaller so its not as secure as the genuine wire. Seems to be on par with the cloned though.
A dab of hotglue or silastic for peace of mind might be a good idea, or to get genuine JST parts from a repurable source..
