PanelDue 5i Not receiving power
-
Hey all,
Running a Paneldue 5i connected to a duet wifi board. Had to move my printer last night, and while getting it set up, the PanelDue started to flash white bars across the screen. After about 1 minute, it shut off for good. I've checked everything (wire continuity, power through USB, etc) and determined that the Paneldue is not receiving power through the 5V and GND pins on the 4 pin connector. Does anyone have any ideas of where I can go from here to figure out what's not working on the board? Thanks for the help! -
Most likely, the +5V or ground crimp connection has failed at one end of the cable. You could also do a visual check that the +5V and ground pins of the 4-pin headers on the Duet and PanelDue appear to be properly soldered.

Thanks for the reply. I verified the cable had continuity on all pins, and I tried powering the panel due directly by hooking up a power supply to the 5v and gnd pins on the board and no luck. Visually the board looks ok, the pins are soldered and firm and no signs of damage anywhere

upload a picture of the whole board in case someone can spot something besides the pins being amiss?

Do you have the same issue if you power the PanelDue via its USB port?

Board works perfectly when powered via USB. I can power the board via usb and connect the 4 pin wire harness, and it communicates perfectly with the Duet.

As it happens, I have a PanelDue 5i that shows similar problems. The screen flashes on power up, and settles down after about a minute. I'll investigate it and post what I find.
It's safe to supply power from both USB and through the 4-wire cable or ribbon cable.

I my case it turned out to be a problem with the 5V regulator on the Duet 3 that I was powering the PanelDue from. It wasn't putting out a steady 5V when first turned on.
