      @Dougal1957:

      do you have a link to that air pump and do you know if it can cope with the pressure drop down the tube

      http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC-24V-Mini-530-Air-Pump-Pressure-Air-Oxygen-Pump-for-Pet-Aquarium-Fish-Tank-/201704143957?hash=item2ef680fc55:g:DKkAAOSwB09YFr9s

      The link above is to what I thought I was buying, seller messaged me and said he has no stock and would send an upgraded one at 4.5LPM instead.

      But there are plenty around

      http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC-12V-24V-Mini-Vacuum-Pump-Separator-High-Pressure-Diaphragm-Air-Compressor-uk/192163738315?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D20140122125356%26meid%3De5ab83a70f314286afa57661cdb4cc49%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D6%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D142132737494

      And pressure drop with either of those two is no real problem 4.5LPM is way more than enough with the restriction of the pipe and the end nozzles

      I could do the math but that would mean thinking, bugger that, I just know from experience those pumps will be more than man enough for the job.

          yeah I have some of the second type that you linked to not sure about your bracket it will block the light from the LED that is on that face shining down give it a bigger cut out

          This is one that Lykle has mocked up

            Only problem I have with Lykle's one is the need to push the tube into it, and the forces required to hold it in there, I personally would much rather be able to remove the tube without disturbing the bracket or the ball studs, in the event of requiring access to to the hot end, hence my design using a replaceable tie warp which would allow the tube to drop away leaving the bracket in place, agreed the LED might be obscured a bit, but a 2 minute change to the design can offset the tube to the side to correct that.

            and on reflection Lykles bracket would fully obscure the LED

              Ok what I have on mine is a short length of 1/8 tube which is the exact size for the Berd air one to fit inside of snuggly so I will superglue the 1/8 into my bracket and use a bit of my tubing as a clamp to hold it in situ the berd air one also is a tight push fit over the silicon sock nozzle part. Looking at lykle's again it wont fit I will tell him lol.

                  @Zesty_Lykle:

                  OK, after some work, and a nice discussion with Doug, I have wrapped up the design for the adapter.

                  So the Shapeways model is now complete and ready.
                  The Thingiverse page holds the 2 models, the legless one and the legged one. (If you look at the adapter standing there you will realise why I am calling it the Grand Piano adapter)

                  Thingiverse https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2453322

                  I download the ZIP file from Thingiverse and the STL files for the "Smart Effector" will not open in Windows 10 3D Builder

                  The STL file for the "PCB Effector" will open.

                  Is that correct? Or is there something wrong with either the files or Windows 10 3D Builder.

                  Thanks.

                    Do you ever plan to release a version compatible with the e3d chimeria hot end??

                      Not sure. The Diamond hot end is another one we might consider supporting.

                          Is there a accurate 3D model of the effector and the custom E3D heatsink somewhere, I would like to make a 40mm blower fan mount 😞

                            David gave the hole spacing's out you can work it all out from there.

                            And the link to the drop box files for a fan bracket is in the wiki page so with that information as well you can use it or modify its design

                              AS I said to Lykle I think bringing out the side like that may interfere with the Diagonal rods unless you are very careful

                                Maybe, thats the beauty of playing with it in electronic format, to iron out all the niggles before doing anything, and sacrificing a single LED might be the best way forward

                                  you could bring the tube out right next to the LED maybe and the shouldn't block anything

                                    And playing some more (ignoring the LED and maybe even removing it)

                                      How about a 50mm blower style? Those are quite common.

                                        I had 50mm for some time, but I like the 40mm compact size, same as classic 40mm fans, but it can be put alongside the e3d for a narrow design. If you take time to search you'll find ones with more than 10CFM

                                          I haven't yet found a 24V 40mm or 50mm blower fan that works with PWM.
