Connecting a Ustepper to a Sammy
-
Hi All,
I'd like to connect my UstepperS closed loop driver via a Sammy to the can on my Duet 3 mini, but it needs +5v step and direction signals. As I understand it the Sammy provides outputs for a opto isolator as you'd find in industrial drivers. My initial thoughts would be to put a resistor across the step and direction pins on the Sammy outputs and then connect the u stepper to the low side. But to be honest I don't Know what size resistor is appropriate or if it'll even work, will the signal be inverted?.Obviously I'd provide a common 0v reference between the ustepper and the Sammy too.
I'm also going to use Sammy IO for homing, and an estop switch and a trigger.
This is in prep for a duet closed loop motor board in the future.
That being said I'm open to any constructive suggestions.
Many thanks

@cncmodeller if you power the SAMMYC21 and the Ustepper from the same 5V supply, and the Ustepper wants 5V level inputs, then you should be able to connect the SAMMYC21 outputs directly to the Ustepper inputs.

@dc42 Ok thanks I'll give it a go.
