I need to pause a print midway so that I can add metal parts to the print and then resume afterwards. Currently I am modifying the gcode at the layer count I wish and adding M600 in the command line.

Is there another a lazy way of doing this? 🤔

@tinken PrusaSlicer supports the same feature. When you open the slicer preview (by pressing "Slice Now") you can drag the slider, right-click on the plus sign on the right, and then go to "Add pause print".
You may have to change the pause code to M226 in the settings though.

@peter247 I looked and could not find pause in Cura 4.9. But I am on Linux so that might be the reason. I will load Windows and look.

I'm on windows version 4.8 and for me it is in .

Extensions > post processing > modify g code > add a script > pause at height , and may be set method to reprap m226 .

@peter247 I figured it out and yes it also works in Linux which is good to know.

Do you know if in Cura you can set the Brim or Skirt to print multiple layers? This is needed for printing unfilled nylon which will actually break a 1 layer Brim.

@chrishamm I was able to load PrusaSlicer and add the pause print. The plus sign is on the drag slider. PrusaSlicer also allows multiple skirt layers.

Many of the settings in cura are hidden by default. You can change visibility of settings by clicking the little gear icon in the settings and choosing what is displayed. I believe brim settings are found in the bed adhesion section.

So far I have only found the multiple skirt/brim layers in Simplify3D and PrusaSlicer. It will be Christmas for me when added to Cura, which I really enjoy using.

@phaedrux apparently their development team does not print unmodified nylon as they think a raft will suffice to adhere nylon to bed surfaces. 😒
