Card Power for Wifi

Hi,
I am trying to setup wifi to use our own network and when plugged into the micro USB to a laptop everything works fine but when I unplug laptop wifi resets to Duet wifi. I checked the internal jumper and it looks like it is in the proper 5v internal position. Is there anything else I should check? Can I just power with a mini usb cable?

Can you describe this a little more?

Which Duet do you have? If it is a Duet 2 WiFi or Duet 2 Ethernet, the jumper must be present to enable the internal 5V supply. If it is a Duet 3 Mini then the jumper must be absent to enable the internal 5V supply.
