Duet 3 mini 5+ out5 shorted
-
I'm afraid I have been very foolish and shorted out out5 on my duet 3 mini 5+ board while finishing up my board configuration. The out5 was set to be taking Vin which was 24V at the time. Everything else on the board seems to still be working and I saw in posts about other boards that there might have been a 1A fuse protecting the circuit just in case someone made that very mistake. However, I am rather new at this and I simply cannot find a 1A blade fuse on the board. I see the 10A and 15A fuses.
So my question is, is there a 1A fuse on the board that would have been burnt out from shorting out5? And if so, where is it? And if not, what did I short and can I fix it? Thanks in advanced!!!

What about out5 doesn't work now? Do you see any damage on any of the chips around the port? Perhaps you've blown the mosfet.

@phaedrux out5 used to run a fan for my hotend, but the fan does not run anymore. I don't see any visible damage on the board, but something made a "pop" noise when I accidentally bridged the out5 leads and caused the short.

Does the fan itself still work if connected directly to power?
If the fan was shorted wither the fan or the mosfet or both has likely died.

@kellz the Duet 2 WiFi and Ethernet had a separate 1A fuse for the fan circuit, however in practice if the output is shorted then the mosfet always blew before the fuse did. So on later Duets we didn't bother using a separate fuse for the fan supply.

Okay, the fan still works, so the mosfet must be shorted then. Thank you!
