      Hello,

      I have a Duet 3 6HC and a RPi4 4GB.
I have whatever firmware and versions came with the board // I have downloaded latest version of DuetPi (non-lite).
My printer is a Cartesian style printer although that is getting abit ahead of ourselves.
I am trying to follow the format for requesting help - I have skimmed through a few searches and cannot find anything to advance my own situation..

I have a Astrodyne 10 A Fused and Filtered IEC Inlet - I have these with the proper connectors crimped and fed to three Wago 221s, Live, Neutral and Ground.
I apologize ahead of time I am somewhat noob to electronics but do learn fast and take safety seriously. I therefore cannot produce the awesome wiring images I see and may use a term incorrectly.

Anyway, I have the IEC Inlet fed to the Wago's because I intend to use a Meanwell 24v PSU as well as a Meanwell 5v PSU.

My raspberry Pi has a it's own usb c PSU (for the moment) that provides 5v and up to 3.5A.

I originally started wiring things up including a relay and wired/crimped the connector to the 3pin 5V IN | PS_ON | GND .

I had put DuetPi on a Sandisk 16GB Ultra SDCard and setup the wpa_ file to have my wifi information - even though I am going to always use hardline ethernet.

At the time, and I am not sure now, I had removed all three of the jumpers on Int 5V EN, SBC-->etc..

I also originally oriented the ribbon cable incorrectly on the RPi4.

I turned on the IEC inlet after plugging in the power cord and stuck the usb c to the pi.. I wondered why after a period of time my Pi which was wired ethernet was not showing up on my router...
eventually I realized the ribbon cable mistake, I re-created the DuetPi sd card, powered everything off, corrected the ribbon cable, put the new sd card back in and powered on the PSU and Pi.

Now I am seeing Duet 3 show up on my network but I cannot connect due to DCS not started, at this time I notice the green LED for 3.3V is not turned on.

I turned everything off and unplugged all - undid all the connectors to the relay as - how the hell is the relay going to work if I haven't setup the trigger yet... and I just had my 24V PSU wired to the Duet 3 now, and also with a new DuetPi on sd card I power cycle and turned everything back on.

3.3V Led not lit up,, Fused Blue Solid, 12V Orange Solid, 5V Red Solid.... no 3.3V Green.
Still cannot connect to Duet3.local because DCS is not started.

I don't believe I missed anything and although embarassing wanted to make sure I included my mistakes so someone more knowledgable than me can let me know the reality of my situation.

So, did I break my board? 😞

@chanabra Read elsewhere re: ADC damage which I am hoping I have not done but taking multimeter to the an endstop 3.3V and GND gives 3.305-3.306V

Let's back things up a bit and try to verify what is working in isolation.

First let's test the Pi. Connect only usbc power, hdmi out to a monitor, and a usb keyboard/mouse, and ethernet. Try with the DuetPi card you have prepared, but it may also be a good idea to test it with a stock Raspbian image from the Pi foundation directly.

For the Duet3, we can also set it up in standalone mode. First connect it to a computer with a USB cable. No SD card present. See what LEDs light up on the board. Try to connect to it via USB terminal software like YAT.

For more steps to check, you can follow along with this guide: https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/What_to_do_if_your_Duet_won't_respond

If the board appears to be responding check the installed firmware version with M115.

you can then setup an SD card with a basic config file set generated with the online tool.

          https://configtool.reprapfirmware.org/Start

The SD card file structure is detailed here: https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/SD_Card

Putting the SD card into the Duet and connecting ethernet and usb power should let it boot up the config file on the SD card and enable the web interface. You can then try connecting to it at it's IP address.

If both pieces of hardware are working independently you can then work towards getting them communicating. They will need matching firmware versions.

Update the Pi with sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade.

Update the Duet by uploading this zip file to the system tab in the web interface.

          https://github.com/Duet3D/RepRapFirmware/releases/download/3.3/Duet2and3Firmware-3.3.zip

Then you can connect the ribbon cable, remove the SD card and ethernet cable from the Duet, and start them up.

At that point you should be able to follow along here: https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Getting_Started_With_Duet_3

Let us know how far you get with each device in isolation.

@phaedrux when I plug it into computer with provided cable I get a solid red 5v and a solid red usb? Light between the miro port and SD card slot. I try to install drivers and it ends up an HID... I'm on my surface book and use a good USB c Hub and have bus power via portable charger while data from pc. Tried without also. Same thing ends up surfaceucmucsihidient device

I got duet 4 to boot up fully into duetpi after I
hooked up a monitor and keyboard.

I did that test in trouble shooting where you connect pin 19 and 21 and I copy paste the command and got the same results.

@phaedrux In any case there is no green LED for 3.3V ever

I have also now just tried on my Linux laptop and there is no /dev/ttyACM[number]

I am about to try the erase options....
                please, please, advise.

Yes you can try the firmware erase jumper on the Duet 3 to clear any firmware and make it programmable. Use Bossa to flash firmware 3.3 on it.

@phaedrux I decided to take thing from the beginning as I purchased the board from Tim and was advised not to miss any points and be more articulated.

The RPi4 4gb connected with USBC power and HDMI out to monitor and a usb keyboard/mouse and ethernet works just fine.

Duet 3 in standalone mode connected to a computer with a USB cable , (I also have a 60W PD Portable Charger I used to supply my laptop power simultaneously after trying on a full charge, as well as tried different micro usb cables) and no SD card yields the following LED: USB red LED between micro usb female port and microSD slot as well as 5V. No 3.3V. No matter what 3.3V is nowhere.

Following your what to do if your Duet won't respond get's me to: If the red LEDs are lit but not the green 3.3V LED then most likely there is a short between the 3.3V power rail and ground.

However, I am at the stage where I simply have a Meanwell 24V PSU hooked up to VIN and do no get 3.3V.

                    Attached are pictures of this:

                    1. Connected to Laptop, only the 2 red LED 5V and USB LED.
                    2. Connected to Laptop w/ Portable Charger adequate enough to charge laptop, only 2 red LED 5V and USB LED.
                    3. Duet 3 6HC only connected with + / - 24V Meanwell PSU
                    4. Clear shot of Duet 3 6HC with the same configuration as 3 just a straight shot of the board.

Also I attempted the erase jumper multiple times as per the link provided "What to do if your duet wont respond" and I cannot get it to have more than the 2 LED: 5V AND USB and it shows as surfaceucmucsihidient regardless of my appropriating the correct driver to it.
On Linux there is no /dev/ttyACM[number]

I believe there is a problem with the voltage regulator providing the 3.3V the board needs.

I am going to reply to this post with my cell phone to make it easy to post the pictures .

Please let me know if I missed any of your steps or where I should go and what I should do from here - I need to make sure i follow procedure.

Thanks for your time Duet team and wise contributors.

Jk about picture 4. File too large and is very redundant as you can see the board in picture 3.
                      I await further instructions..

Thanks for the granular testing. It's much clearer.

Can you get a few well lit close up photos of the board? Maybe a few photos showing the 4 quadrants?

If the 3.3v regulator is damaged/failed it may be covered under warranty. When and where did you purchase the duet?

                          @phaedrux yes of course

Here you go. It may be worth mentioning I have a bench power supply and could, per instruction only, attempt to supply the board with 3.3V directly if that is a thing. The board was purchased through Filastruder and I have only good things to say about their service.

I've been slowly finishing my printer and getting parts together and apologize its just now I am noticing and addressing this..

I think there is a scorch mark right above the 3.
