M569 Px Sn working properly?

I can't post an M122 output because I can't see it in my console. M569, setting the stepper motor direction, isn't working right for me. No matter what I put into config.g, the motor runs backwards. If I enter M569 P3 S0 once, it has no effect. If I run it a second time, it does have an effect. Is M569 working properly?
If I have wired something wrong, I apologize now.

Screenshot of your DWC? What version is it running? What version is your firmware?

Usually when someone says this it turns out that they aren't editing the right file, as in, they have the files in the macros folder or elsewhere and not in the system tab. Could that be the case?
Can you post your config.g?
Can you connect via USB terminal and send M122 and M115 and M98 P"config.g" to see if it will respond there?
