My new "Early christmas present" (as a kit & pile of parts) Kossel XL+:

It's built from a surplus Think3dPrint3d frame kit with a Duet3 6HC to control it. It uses a Smart Effector and a Flex3drive, plus some printed fan mount parts I found on Thingiverse.

The overall combination is superb, I'm really happy with the results!

I finished setting it up and did the first real prints in the last couple of days, though I still need to tidy up some cables etc., and make a reel holder.

@rjenkinsgb I'm glad you like it! My large Kossel on which the T3P3 design was based is still my go-to printer.

I found your "Precision Kossel" build blog when researching the kit before buying it.

I thought it looked to be your design, and I used your parts list for the motors types etc. to complete it.

The only real differences functionally are the Flex3drive extruder that came with it, and using a 6HC rather than the Duet 2WiFi.

What speeds and accelerations etc. do you use on yours?

The flex3drive hobbed gear is difficult to clean as it requires a strip down of the housing. Also the housing has split and delaminated.
Any more problems and it will be replaced with something else.
Not sure if upgraded/improved parts are available.

I once left it unused for some months and the OEM toothed belts became deformed at the pulleys - I now park it in differing places!
          Friction prevents z creep.

          Otherwise it’s a great machine.

I had a problem with the drive cable outer not seating very far in to the top clamp and working loose; after refitting it a few times the top section split away from its flange. It's now got a "splint" made of cable ties between the body and drive outer to stop it flexing so much, plus a superglue repair to the top.

However all the extruder .stl and CAD files are downloadable from the flex3drive site, so I don't see a problem with making a new top from stronger material, possibly a bit taller and with more bracing.

Thanks for that; the settings I'm using from the configurator are pretty close already, as it turns out, so I'll not mess it up!
