Change flashforge creator 2 pro to duet
-
Hi,
I have a flashforge creator 2 pro idex, very happy with the hardware but not pleased about being locked into their browser which is minimalistic and lacking many functions I got used to. So was thinking of changing the board to a duet board but I have no clue where to start. Any guides specific to this printer?

Have a look here for some details on the various Duet boards.
https://docs.duet3d.com/en/Duet3D_hardware/Hardware_overviewAnd see if there is anything specific to the Flashforge Creator here: https://forum.duet3d.com/search?term=flashforge&in=titles
It seems like there have been a few conversions.

What board do you have in mind, mini 5?

@zapta Hi, I am completely new to the duet ecosystem, so not sure what boards to look at. My current printer is an idex. The flashforge slicer is terrible if you want to do custom profiles. Works fine if you stick to their default settings. It is obviously targeted at people who have minimal 3d printing slicer experience. And it doesn't work with 3rd party slicers except Simplify 3d in beta level support with some issues.

@hkindy Seems all the topics are to do with the creator pro, not the creator pro 2 which is a an idex printer while the creator pro was just a dual nozzle printer. I am concerned jumping into the deep end with this and end up with a non-functional printer because I don't have the knowledge to set it up properly. I have built an original Prusa kit printer before, but that is the limit of my 3d printer customization knowledge.

@hkindy I think that the duet supports idex (need to confirm) and is doable and people here are always helpful but it will require time, patience, and persevere, and success is not guaranteed. On the other end it can be a great learning opportunity.
BTW, the mini 5 can drive up to 7 steppers with the additional of the daughter board that has two additional drivers. I use it on my printer.

@hkindy to help us advise you, please count the number of stepper motors on your machine (probably 6) and report any model numbers of those motors that you can read on their labels.
