Jumping off Z Header (Duet 2)
-
Hi all,
I need just one more stepper motor on my Z (to have 3 in total) and I was wondering if I could split a header between two or something else so that I have one extra motor? or do I have to buy the extension board? I've seen you can get a duet maestro board that has two more motor drivers on, could this be adapted?
Thanks in advance!

You could add a Expansion Breakout Board and add an external driver.

@Phaedrux Thanks for this! Thats helped massively!

@Adam_Sw3 the two Z motor connectors on Duet 2 are connected in series. You could connect two motors in series to one of them, to put all three in series. Google "wiring stepper motors in series" to see how.
If they are low current motors (e.g. rated at 800mA or less) then it would be better to wire all three motors in parallel to one of the connectors, and put the two jumpers in the other.
