communication through CAN
-
Hello. Question: I have read some posts about ways to communicate between boards (methods are not detailed, I guess I need to read a lot more and experiment), but ewhat about CAN connection. Today if I connect 2 boards using CAN, 1 of them beconmes slave. Is there a way to just connect the boards and both of them keep working on their on and use the CAN connection only to share information (For example board 1 can read thermistors on board 2)
Thanks in advance -

TBH I never considered that possibility, so I haven't tried it!
One issue I can see immediately is that you would need to use M954 on one of the boards to change its CAN address, and then that board would not be able to make requests of the other board (or any other CAN-connected boards in the system). However, if the first board created all the sensors on both boards then I think both boards should be able to read all of them.

@dc42 Thatnks for the info. My intention is c¿not completely that: I meant I wanted to have 2 printers, but make a connection between them and share some info like reading some sensors from the other for example, or the status as another example. So each board created it ouwn axis, sensors, etc.
