So long story short, I want to swap out hotends on my smart effector (with a nimble), rather than put the heatbreak through the strain, I want to be able to just unscrew the whole heatsink and pop the other one in. I've already picked up an extra heatsink for use with the volcano. My concern is the irritation of fiddling with the screw terminal for the heater connector every time I wish to swap them. Can someone recommend a set of male+female 2 wire quick connectors, one side of which I can wire to the effector push terminal, the other connecting to the heater cartridge wires, with a rating sufficient to be safely used to swap heater carts without unscrewing the whole thing every time? I'd buy a second effector entirely and just swap that way, but I won't pay for an extra nimble. I plan on designing a nimble mount that allows for tool access to the nut on top, or itself retains the nut so I can just unscrew the heatsink and replace.

Molex Microfit 3.0 would be a suitable option.

E3D's premium heater cartridges use Molex Microfit 3.0 connectors.

You might not like the price though 😄

        Haha! Well played!

I'd certainly pick one up if it's suitable for my needs. My question is this, and it's hard to tell in the photo, how long are the wires on each end of the connector? It looks like id have a lot of slack in between the cartridge and the connector. On the other end obviously I'd just trim and re-ferrule. Also, does this function in the Volcano as well?

DC42 or others, how hard would it be to desolder and replace the screw terminal on the bottom of the effector for a microfit connector? Then I could just plug and unplug it directly and not build a second connector in the middle.

If you can manage to desolder the terminal block, fitting a 2-pin Microfit 3 connector would be easy. The PCB is already designed to take a Microfit connector instead of the terminal block. The reason we fit terminal blocks instead is that when we started shipping the Smart Effector, E3D hadn't started fitting the connector on the 24V cartridges.

I use SMD desoldering tweezers to remove 2-pin terminal blocks, because they allow me to heat both pins at once.

Tim, do all E3D heater cartridges come with the Microfit connector now?

PS - according to https://e3d-online.com/high-precision-heater-cartridge the wires are 143mm from cartridge to connector.

              Ah, Thanks!

Seriously you guys are so damn good to your customers, you too Tim. David, I'd buy an 8 bit RAMPS off you for a hundred bucks if it came with your customer service/responsiveness.

Nope, only the premium ones (available in 12v/30w or 24v/30w).
