PanelDue 5i won't connect

Hi,

I found a PanelDue 5i amongst my parts and decided to add it to one of my printers.

The printer is using a Mini-5 running 3.4.6.

The 5i was of a later vintage which I was able to upgrade the firmware to 3.4.1.

However when connected to the Mini-5 using just the flat cable the 5i powers up OK but just sits there displaying Connecting.

I searched for posts related to that issue but found nothing recent.

Any ideas?

Do you have the command to enable to paneldue in your config.g? Easy to overlook.

Do the baud rates match?

Have you tested with a 4 wire cable yet?

Yes indeed. I checked it several times.

Yes and I have tried them all.

No, I didn't think about that. I will make a cable and give it a go.

Would I leave the flat cable connected or use just the 4 wire?

When I went to connect the 4-wire cable I had to first disconnect the flat cable so I could turn the printer on it's back to access the Mini-5.

I removed the flat cable from the Mini-5 and took at look at the connector. All seemed good so I reconnected it.

I realized after looking at the Mini-5 I didn't have the right 4-wire cable.

So I put the printer back on it's feet, reconnected the PanelDue and powered the printer up.

The PanelDue connected without issue - something to do with disconnecting/reconnecting the flat cable perhaps.
