I have the need to pause a lengthy print.

Since I've never done this before I was wondering what the process for implementing it is. Do I simply "Pause" the print and shut down the printer and laptop?

I assume I should home the machine before restarting? How does it know what line of code to start from when I fire up the printer again?

Any "how-to" would be great if there is one..

    Thanks.

    ampapa,

Are you printing on a cold bed? If not, won't the print come detached if you power down the printer?

Why not just pause conventionally? How long are you looking to pause for?

This is on a heated bed with PEI… I hadn't thought about the print coming loose though.

        Overnight shutdown...

Part is likely to come loose if the heated bed cools. You could pause conventionally and then turn off the hotend heater (leaving on the bed heater), I believe, though I've never tried.

If you do want to shut down the printer completely, use firmware 1.20 and see https://duet3d.com/wiki/Setting_up_to_resume_a_print_after_a_power_failure_or_planned_power_down.

              Thanks David.

I'll be giving that a shot before long then.
