Serial SCARA firmware support, please!

Hi there,

Currently in the early phases of a serial SCARA build and I notice the firmware config tool doesn’t support scara kinematics. I’m wondering why this is so/wishing for it to one day support scara builds.

To my understanding, I’ll have to manually edit the firmware code to have the board (6xd in my case) recognize the scara kinematics. I’d generate a firmware code for a Cartesian printer, accounting for my motors/drivers/sensors/axes in the config tool, then switch out the M669 code to tell it scara instead.

Obviously none of this is “it’s that simple”… but what am I missing here, other than M669 and assigning new values for the geometry of the build?

Is there any hope for a configuration tool that supports serial SCARAs?

@tonybillie The RRF object model does not hold enough information about serial SCARA setups yet, so saving the required information using the configtool isn't really possible yet. I've logged this FR here: https://github.com/Duet3D/RepRapFirmware/issues/1093
