It's had a long gestation, but it's out at last! We've just released version 3.6.0 stable of RepRapFirmware, Duet Web Control and Duet Software Framework.

There are many improvements in RepRapFirmware compared to the 3.5.x series, in particular the improved input shaping, support for some scanning inductive sensor, support for RS485/Modbus communication on Duet 3 boards, string-handling functions in GCode expressions, MQTT support on Duet 3 boards with Ethernet interface, and more. Duet Software Framework now has faster JSON handling and also gains MQTT support.

Please read the important upgrade notes before you upgrade as you may need to make minor changes to your config.g file. If your system includes a PanelDue then we recommend you upgrade it to version 3.5.1 of PanelDueFirmware first.

      DWC release notes: https://github.com/Duet3D/DuetWebControl/wiki/Changelog-DWC-3.x#version-360-changes-since-354-in-preparation
      DSF release notes: https://github.com/Duet3D/DuetSoftwareFramework/wiki/Changelog-DSF-3.x#version-360-changes-since-354-in-preparation

Users running Duet in standalone mode can use the files at https://github.com/Duet3D/RepRapFirmware/releases/tag/3.6.0. Most users can just upload file Duet2and3Firmware-3.6.0.zip to upgrade everything except PanelDue. Users running Duet with attached Single Board Computer, please upgrade from the package server as usual.

If you are unfortunate enough to encounter any difficulties or new bugs in this release, please start a new thread including [3.6.0] in the topic title. You are welcome to post general comments on 3.6.0 in this thread.

@dc42, just a quick comment ... when upgrading from 3.6.0-rc1 to 3.6.0 I had several pop ups of incompatible versions. Also, the initial upgrade did not apply the upgrade to my MB6HC board. A second run of the upgrade package did eventually upgrade the MB6HC board as well.

Awesome news @dc42! We've been waiting with bated breath for this one!

One quick note, in the changelog for Bug fixes since 3.5.4, there's a double-up on one comment:

Yes, some of us read ALL of the release notes before blindly installing updates... 😉

@davidjryan thanks, it's nice to know that at least one person reads the release notes! I have removed the duplicate item.

Q for @dc42 and @chrishamm : If possible, how soon can we expect DuetPi Bookworm DSF 3.6.0 build images to appear in the Duet3D / DuetPi section ( https://github.com/Duet3D/DuetPi/releases )?
