      Hi Guys,
I'm looking to build a Kossel XL. Either from a good quality kit or from a BOM list. Last years fall, I bought myself a half finished, customized Kossel mini from a guy on a 3D site in Sweden and completed the build to find an absolutely mind-blowing performance compared to my cartesian budget printers. Now I want to build bigger parts going delta style.

Can you recommend a kit or a well tested custom build with reasonably good building instructions?

I have four previously builds behind me so I'm not a total rookie. I will use Duet a board/w Paneldue wich I already have in stock. I also have most of the hardware required such as hammerhead nuts, assorted 2020, 2040, 2080 profiles, NEMA 17 motors and E3D V6 hotend + fans etc. I will be needing a heated bed for this build. I also have a Diff IR probe from Escher but leans towards a precision piezo probe instead. Apart from this the budget is about 500 €.

      TIA
      /Thom

I think its quite doable. I really like the TevoLM frame, although I am not sure they are easy to just buy.

I don't know if you can do it for $500, but good luck. My full build log is here: http://forums.reprap.org/read.php?178,702599,page=1

500 Euro for everything isn't enough for a good Kossel XL. You might want to look at my build details at https://miscsolutions.wordpress.com/dc42s-large-kossel-build/ which includes a link to a costed bill of materials.

Ok, interesting. Remember that I already have a lot of stuff on my shelves. In short, I will need material partly for the frame and towers, corner joints, PSU, buildplate+heater, rails, carriages, belts, rods and effector.

I was think about putting my money where precision really matters, moving parts such as effector, rails + carriages, rods /w magnetic ball joints, pulleys and idlers. The rest I have in stock and some parts can probably be salvaged from old decomissioned printers or manufacture myself. I will study both solutions closer the coming days.

              Hi Captain Sq,
I have a large delta, with reasonably stout mechanics and it is working well for the past 6 months. Here is my semi build log:

By the way, Tjena! Jag också från Göteborg. You can PM me if you want more details. Will be happy to share the details.

              Best Regards,

Tjena, kul att se andra Göteborgare här!

I've been studying your design and like the triangular 120° tower profiles you found on the German site. However, I have a lot of standard 2020, 2040 and 2080 profiles that I want to use (preferably). The rest can probably be made by myself or bought from Robotdigg and the German sites.

I guess I'll be starting the design work in Fusion any day now once I chosen the parts to use. I have an idea on a direct extruder á lá Nimble but with different drive mechanism that I want to try out in a real prototype. Simulating in fusion seems to work well but reality is a completely different thing.

                Thanks for all tips!
