I have had an issue with the Vin connector beginning to burn/melt, completely my fault as I had not attached the ferrules. This is because my initial crimping method was not successful and having ordered some more not got round to reattaching them.

So my question is what is the best way to crimp these ferrules on a) using the method shown here https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Guide/2.%29+Wiring+your+Duet/9 or b) using a quad crimp tool or does it not matter?

The proper ratchet crimp tools are best. I use this one https://www.rapidonline.com/anvil-av-crmpd-ratchet-action-crimp-tool-for-0-5-to-4-0mm-bootlace-terminals-85-0216.

If you were interested in a uni-tasker crimper I almost exclusively use this style for the ferrules.
