Using 5 Extruder on 3D Printer.
-
I am designing 3D printer (Cartesian type) with dual Y axis, one X Axis, 5 Extruder with individual Z Axis.
Can Duet Control Board handle this?
All extruder will be printing same design. -
You say the extruders will have individual Z axes. Will the 5 Z motors be slaved together, or do you want to drive them separately, for example to implement separate bed compensation for each of them?
If they will be slaved together then it's possible.
-
Yes, There would be 5 separate Z Axis driven individually. Bed compensation is not necessary in my case. i need is total 13 separate Axis, one for X, two for Y, five for Z and five for extruder.
This is specialized application for textiles.
-
The maximum number of independently driven stepper motors using standard firmware is 12. It would be possible to add a 13th by modifying the firmware.
Why do you need to move the Z motors independently?
-
The machine i am developing is for Plastic Embroidery on textiles. Based on embroidery designs and fabric area I need to enable and disable individual extruder and its Z Axis. There are 5 Extruders (with its Z Axis) each covering 400 mm area of print bed. Machine's print bed size is 1200 mm x 2000 mm.
Can I make a skype call?

@chetan-patel, is this a one-off build, or a machine that you plan to manufacture?
