Is there a connection example for using the Orion. It passes a static test but doesn't stop after G30 and crashes if not turned off.

Hi Craig, Unfortunately I don't have any experience of the duet so it's not easy to offer advice. What I can tell you is that the Orion behaves exactly like a standard microswitch except that for the Orion you need to turn pullups off. Simon runs a Duet and should be able to help you but he's travelling in Europe at the moment and so replies may be slower than normal. I'll do some reading into the operation of the Duet with the Orion probe and get back to you if I find anything I think might help. Idris

              Hi have you read this?

              https://forum.duet3d.com/topic/2671/precision-piezo-z-probes-guide-for-duet-users-reference/99

Just double check the wiring into the duet, as the Orion and latest products come with standard endstop wiring, i.e. +,-,sig so as long as these connections on the duet z probe connector are correct the config should be fine.

Remember its an active low switch so it triggers when the voltage drops, use switch I1 in M558, other than that just set it up as per the guide above ( see the 1st post there).

Thanks for the help, and I have it responding now. But in an unusual manner. When I type M30 it drops down 400 mm andit won't stop. After that it slows down and makes several random moves. Next it moves to X0 Y0 and probes. It then moves randomly for 3 more moves and comes back to X0 Y0 and Z35, which is accurate. I have been told my firmware needs to be updated. So that's where I am going next.

The "random moves" you mention will probably go away if you delete the old deployprobe.g and retractprobe.g files in the /sys folder of the SD card.

On the reprap forum you said that removing the deploy and retract files made the problem worse, this is very illogical since these files are only needed when a probe needs to be deployed or stowed, one feature of piezo probes is that they are permanently mounted and do not require any deployment ot stowing. Did this change help or not?

When deploy/retract was first introduced into RRF my printer did some odd moves, until I deleted these files. Then it probed normally. Post your M558 and G31 as you have them now please.

In his other thread I pointed out that @Craig has H300 in his M558 command, which is surely wrong.
