Wiring Nema 17 pancake Stepper Motor
-
Hi,
In this moments i have instaled a Nema 17 as extruder motor, but i want change for a Nema 17 pancake Stepper Motor, lighter.
The problem, the pancake Stepper motor has come pre wired, with 4 wires, and i dont know how connect to Duet, things
A- In Wiki, say that pins of E0 Stepper Motor Socket is (2B Red, 2A Blue, 1A Green, 1B Black)
What are the same Coil... A and B, or 1 and 2?
B- I have checked continuity in my Nema 17 pancake motor, the motor come prewired with 4 wires (Blue, Red, Black and Green) and i have find the wires of same coil. Coil 1 (Green and Black) and Coil 2 (Red and Blue).
If the colors that use Duet and Pancake Stepper, are the same...
In the Duet Stepper Socket, number correspond to coil. No?
I have only connect colour to colour. No?

@peirof do not go by the colors. If you have a DMM, measure the resistance across two colors pairs until the resistance is very low (less than 100 ohms). Then make note of those colors and that will tell you a winding pair. Do that again for the other winding (just to confirm) and now you have winding 2.
The duetwifiv1.01-1.04 have them paired 1a-1b (pins1,2 respectively) is one winding and 2a-2b is the other (pins 3,4) respectively.
I often have to cut off the preinstalled connectors (if they don’t fit) and crimp and install a new connector that is compatible with the duet.

Thanks, later try

Questions....
i have identified in nema 17 pancake stepper motor the coils. Some questions:
A- How know what are the pair of wires of coil 1 and coil 2? or its the same?
B- In coil 1, there is 2 wires, what correspond A and what correspond to B?Extra question:
What do that stepper motors turns reverse:
A- Coil A its conected to Coil B, are inverted...
or
B- The wires in the same coil are invertedThanks

Either A or B will cause the motor to run in the opposite direction. So don't worry about getting the connections exactly right, all that matters is that the two wires from one winding are at one end of the 4-pin connector on the Duet, and the wires from the other winding are at the other end. If you find that the motor runs the wrong way, use the M569 command in config,g to reverse it.
