Can I change M307's S parameter without redoing auto-tuning

I did the auto tuning and got the M307 results. The S value is 0.4 which I guess is the value I put for auto-tuning. Can I simply change it to S1? Or should I re-run auto-calibration?

Which firmware version were you using when you ran auto tuning?

You should be able to change S without re-tuning then, but you may get better results if you re-tune.
