      Seems like this print is not suffering from vibration, but from pulsing of the extruder. I have Flexion extruders, which are direct drive with no gearing.

      What do you recommend for smoothing it out?

        Are you using an extruder with low steps/mm (less than 400)? If so, try increasing extruder microstepping, or (preferably) upgrade it to a 0.9deg motor.

          Ok, they are 0.9°. I'll check the micro stepping

            @dc42 I was wrong, I'm using the original Promega motion motors as my extrusion motors. Those are quite crap. I'm going to try and swap things around.

              @dc42 OK, I swapped my motors around, I have e3d motors as my extruders now, they're the "Compact But MIghty", https://e3d-online.dozuki.com/Document/120/.pdf . I know the steps/mm depend on the size of the pinion gear, but these motors are only 189.4steps/mm. They are 0.9 and the pinion is fairly large. I'll let you know how it goes.

              Is there another kind of motor that will have a higher steps/mm?

                @gnydickThose of us with Zesty Nimbles have 2600 steps with 1.8deg motors (pancake are good) :))))

                  To get higher steps/mm you would need to use a geared extruder. The motor you are now using should work reasonably well but I suggest you set extruder microstepping to x64.

                    @dc42 yeah, I have it set to 256. I've noticed at 256, other motors have weird issues, like slowing down during movements, a straight fast line goes WOOOwoooOOO. Also, M593 mentions s-curve acceleration, but it's mentioned nowhere else in the docs. Is it an option?

                      256 is probably too high and eating up too much cpu time. 64 or 128 should be enough to offset the low base steps per mm.

                      If you run M122 do you see any hiccups in the movement section?
