Fan Control, no Ground for Fans
-
Hey guys,
just a quick question. I build a delta style printer and the Fans (Hot End cooling fan and part cooling fan) are mounted on the effector. To spare wires to the effector I use one ground cable for the fans (and other stuff), that is why I only connected the Fans to V_Fan.I guess that is why I can't control the fans. Because those are just 2pin fans, is it possible to connect it to Fan0- or does this damage the fan/board/both (as stated in the wiki).
I guess not, but is there a work-around possible? Why is the PWM done with ground and not V_FAN?
I hope my inquiry makes sense

Because it's easier. All 3D printer control boards do it this way.
You can use a common positive wire for all the fans and also for the hot end heater, as long as they are all the same voltage.
