You don't have the i1 parameter in the M558 command, If the sensor is a naked piezo cylinder (which is what it looks like), you must use i1 in that command as I said in my previous email, otherwise you will get the "already triggered" error.
-
@Phaedrux Thank you for taking the time and helping me out.
The truth is, there is so much time lost and solution is not found. If we accept the fact, that Duet is not compatible with this sensor, what are the other options available???
All I have is a BLclone and mechanical endstop. Bear in mind, I am seeking the easiest solution available, as I just learned G code, previous motherboard was plugNplay -
@dc42 Just added I1 and the nozzle crashed to bed on mesh compensation.
However, it did home correctly.; Z-Probe
M558 P5 I1 R0.4 H3 F400 T3600 ; Set Z probe type to effector and the dive height + speeds
G31 P400 X0 Y0 Z0 ; Set Z probe trigger value, offset and trigger height
M557 X0:330 Y0:660 S40 ; Define mesh grid -
@dc42 While crashing onto the bed, I got this error
G32 Error: Z probe was not triggered during probing move
-
Like I said before, test with the polarity reversed. Also test at different Z probing speeds (F parameter in the M558 command). See https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Test_and_calibrate_the_Z_probe for how to test it.
However, a naked piezo cylinder is a very primitive type of Z probe, and reliably operation may be hard to achieve. You might possibly find that P1 in the M558 command along with i0 works better than P8 (again, try both polarities).
-
Might want to trigger it by hand while testing rather than wait for it to contact the bed just in case. That way you can kill power if it doesn't trigger as expected.
-
@dc42 Okay, I tried P1 mode while erasing I1 , I didn't get a single error.
However, it crashes onto X endstop for 1sec continuously
-
So, what else can be done??
-
@phaedrux It happened now, will try to do that next time

The X (not Z) endstop? That's a different problem.
-
So, as it seems no solution has been found, duet is incompatible with this piezo sensor. Can a normal mechanical endstop be used?
-
You can use an endstop as a simple z axis endstop mounted to the frame, but it would make mesh compensation impossible, unless you did the probing manually (it asks you to job the nozzle to just touch the bed to get z0 at the probe points, which is slow but workable for smaller grids).
Alternatively you can mount the endstop switch to the print head and use it as a probe, but you'd need a mount.
The BLtouch clone may be a good option as well, but also need a mount.
-
@Phaedrux I installed the endstop with silicon heated glue to the heater block for one time.
Connected endstop to Zendstop, ACTIVE HIGH, ZminAfter I home Z, I hit autobed leveling and I get AGAIN problem
G32
Error: Z probe already triggered before probing move started.Bear in mind my frustration, I have switched to duet after 2 previous motherboards did burn, yet I have the best motherboard available and I cannot start printing.
I tried both M558 P1 and M558 P5, same result.
Thank you for your time and hope you understand me!
; Z-Probe
M558 P1 R0.4 H4 F1200 T3600 ; Set Z probe type to effector and the dive height + speeds
G31 P220 X0 Y0 Z0 ; Set Z probe trigger value, offset and trigger height
M557 X0:330 Y0:660 S40 ; Define mesh grid -
I hear your frustrations.
See this note about switches. https://reprap.org/wiki/Z_probe#Microswitch
The mode you choose will depend on how the switch is wired. See the different modes in this link https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Connecting_a_Z_probe
If it's already triggered that means it may need to be inverted by adding i1 to M558.
You'll also need an X Y offset now in g31.

Followed the instructions exactly as they dictated.
Input the microswitch to E0 instead of Zendstop.
Selected P4 on M558 command. It works. By hand. I hit the endstop and the machine moves to the various points. If I click the endstop, it moves to the next one.
Will try the piezo probe on E0 and update you.
Thank you very much for your time.

AND IT WORKS. WITH THE PIEZO SENSOR.
Is it possible to add this feature on Z leveling for future recommendation??? I believe many users will find this usefull, as setting BLtouch and IR probes is a nightmare. Sometimes, simplicity offers the best results.
-
I can write the post myself for the Z leveling with microswitches or a simple piezo with pictures as examples too. let me know
-
Have at it. Glad you got it working. Interested to see what you ended up with.

Will do. just popped a new topic on a new problem that did arise. This topic problem is solved. Will start making a tutorial for microswitch or piezo leveling
