Some Newbie Setup Clarification for Duet2 Wifi

Hi. I am a Newbie to the Duet Controller and Configuration software, I am in the process of upgrading an existing CNC Router with a Duet2 WiFi. I have successfully managed the process of preparing the controller but I would like some clarification on a few points before I power up, I have read the manuals but still not totally confident in my understanding. I don’t want to take a chance of smoke leaking out of the controller because I have done something stupid.
Is the default position (as supplied new) of the controller 5.0 volt for the “Always on Fans” or do I need to adjust any pins?
My current wiring on machine for Homing and Limit switch is NC (Normally Closed), I assume NC is preferred. On each axis the homing and limit switch is on same circuit and is wired in series for that axis. (Mainly due to restriction of outputs on old controller). Would I be better to rewire each of the Homing axis (XYZ) each to a single output and then wire all other axis limit switches at other end of bed in series to a 4th output point?
To configure endstops I note the code M574 is required. Can I make changes from Duet Web Control under Settings-Config G (or is this read only) do I need to go through the YAT software to make changes? Assume the same rules apply for changing steps/mm settings which I think I will have to change also.
Really appreciate any direction and wisdom on the above.

No, the default position is VIN. See the V_FAN jumper in the diagram at https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Duet_Wiring_Diagrams.

The problem with your existing setup is that if you try to home the printer when a limit switch is triggered, it will think that the axis is in the home position at the other end. So it is probably best to rewire as you suggest.

You can change everything in Duet Web Control. YAT is only needed for initial configuration of the WiFi SSID and password on the Duet WiFi.
