Can you post some more information? Like what board, firmware versions.

Are PanelDue and DWC up to date as well?

1.21 is pretty old at this point. It may be easier to just make sure everything is fully up to date.

Like I said above., firmware 1.21.1.21 for all 3. The board is a DuetWifi. PanelDue firmware could probably use an update but shouldn't be causing the homing issue or runaway motors.

More info. I don't believe it is a slicing issue either. When the runaway motors issue occurs, I can run the same print again and the issue does not reoccur. Also, two files sliced with the same profiles. The shorter to print file seems to home after print fine, while the longer print one has the issue.

I agree, upgrade to 2.02 and which of those problems (if any) persist. Read the upgrade notes for the versions you skipped first.

OK. I'll give that a shot.

I updated all the firmware. All seemed well until tonight. It was printing fine, then just stopped. I looked over and saw the wifi startup message. The DuetWifi had restarted itself. No console errors. Just a disconnect from the restart.

Some additional history of this printer. I have 3 printers (soon to be 4) running DuetWifis. This one has had a history of layer shifting at random times. It has been mostly in the X and Y axis but I've also experienced it in the Z axis. It has also had issues where I touch the frame and odd things happen such as the screen just freezes or the printer freezes. I'm wondering if it is possible that static is building up in the printer causing the spurious errors. I live in AZ and static, especially during the winter, does build up easily due to the dry weather.

None of my other printers have these issues.

              Thoughts?

@speedydad Is your frame grounded? Motors? Static build up could very well be an issue.

It is not. I guess I could try running a wire from the power supply ground to the frame to see if it fixes these issues.

Not a bad idea for safety sake either.

If that happens again, run M122 immediately. Look at the "Last reset reason" in the report. If it was Software, post the Software Reset Data here. If it was Power Up, you probably had a power brownout.

I ran it just now and got:
Last software reset at 2019-01-16 21:11, reason: Hard fault, spinning module Platform, available RAM 6336 bytes (slot 0)

that is about the time it reset. Not 100% sure that was it but pretty sure

Yes, that's exactly the information I need if the problem happens again when you are using current firmware.
