Heater fault?
-
I have been printing with no issues for the past week trying to dial everything in until last night. I auto tuned both heaters on my machine two weeks ago and modified the config.g folder. I had a slight issue the other day where I had a print fail and melted onto the heatblock so I removed the extruder and installed a new heatblock heatbreak and thermistor while keeping the original heater. I was printing last night and had a few heater faults during prints. I have no idea why this is happening I have my part cooling fan off and the heatbreak fan on my E3D V6 is working just fine. Any ideas what can be causing this?I tried tuning the heaters with the fans on and with them off and both of the results from the auto tune are now giving me continuous heater faults. Here are the results of M122.

When I started the autotune I entered
M303 H1 S260
The autoune finished and gave me
Heater 1 model: gain 536.2, time constant 185.0, dead time 5.6, max PWM 1.00, calibration voltage 13.2, mode PID, inverted no, frequency default
Computed PID parameters for setpoint change: P11.0, I0.341, D43.1
Computed PID parameters for load change: P11.I modified the config.g file with the results following the directions in the Duet directions.I now am experiencing constant heater faults during prints.I made the critical mistake of not keeping the original settings in the config.g file.
-
It's possible you malformed the command when translating the results to the config.g. You could re-run the auto-tune and use M500 to save the results to config-override.g. Then you could either copy the command over to the config.g or add M501 to the end of config.g to load config-override.g.
Also, are you sure the new thermistor matches the one you replaced?
-
I have tried three different thermistors.I tried adding M501 to config.g with no luck and even erased the override folder well not the entire folder just the contents of the folder.
-
Can you post your config.g?
Is the thermistor a genuine E3D cartridge?
-
The original was but it is stuck in the heatblock that was covered in ABS.The threee that I am using now two are generic NTC 100k and one is a Semitec. Here is the config.g and can the entire Override folder be erased or just the contents?

@siblues said in Heater fault?:
M307 H1 A121.4 C566.6 D0.5 B0 ; Auto Tune results for hotend heater
M307 H0 A121.4 C566.6 D0.5 B0 ; Auto Tune for bed heaterThese two lines are identical, which means you've duplicated either the hot end or bed heater, which obviously should have very different characteristics.
Since the thermistor is different, the parameters provided in M305 will likely not be as close of a fit.
For the long term I suggest picking up another E3D thermistor since they provide known good values to use.
In the short term, you should be able to get back up and running by deleting the two M307 commands for the bed and hot end, and re-running the auto-tune for both. Use M500 after each tune to save the values to config-override.g and then adding M501 to the end of config.g to load them.

Thermistors ordered and you are a savior.I didn't even realize that was there and I have no idea how I managed to do that. The printer and Duet are working ok right now trying to tune things a bit more for better results.
