Extrusion Calibration Bowden throug hotend or Not
-
Should you do an extrusion test with bowden tube through the hot end or just extrude it and measure amount extruded without the hot end (just out the end of the bowden tube)?
-
the E step calibration for the extruder is done without the hotend and without the bowden tube.

That's how it's normally done. But there is a good case for doing it through the hot end at a low speed e.g. 1mm/sec.

does that not introduce to many variables?
like the variance +/- 0.05 of the filament? -
I always do it with the hotend on at a high temp and slow speed. Simply because it's a pain to remove the hotend. Then I fine tune by doing a test print and using the flow rate slider until it looks good, then I use that to change the slicer flow rate per filament.

like the variance +/- 0.05 of the filament? No, because you would still measure the filament distance at the extruder drive input.
