Duex2 or Duex5 will be the best solution

Assuming of course that your main electronics is Duet WiFi or Duet Ethernet. Or you could use Duet Maestro electronics with the additional 2-stepper driver daughter board, which will be in our shop very soon.

Meaning that DueX2 and DueX5 are the expansion boards with TMC2660 drivers.

I don't want to use duex board. I was talking about expansion board.

@damir that board is for conencting external driver modules/boards that take a differential signal. for example:
                  https://www.omc-stepperonline.com/digital-stepper-drive-24-72a-20-80vdc-for-nema-34-stepper-motor-cnc-kit-dm860i.html

If you don't want to use a Duex then I am unaware of another option that uses TMC2660s

I look little more on DUET wifi wiring diagram. I can connect TMC2208 Stepper Motor Driver module/board directly on DUET 2 expansion connector. For example on pins 4,5,6,7 (E2-stop, E2-step,E2-dir and E2-en).
                    Is this correct?

I was in the same situarion and weighed out the pros and cons. I understand there is a cost to cosider but it doesn’t make sense to take the risk of destroying the Duet main board. Call it insurance if you must.
There is a lot of value (forget cost) in these products that a lot of people don’t recognize. Also, add up the time and materials, the cost difference isn’t that much if you use quality parts. To use knockoff parts is just silly.
One more thing to consider is serting up firmware, why recreate the wheel? There is a lot of support when using the Duet with the Duex especially for IDEX.
I cant tell you how easy it is setting up the printer using the Duet/Duex pair and the supplied docs and files.

@bricor I considering deux board only for further development of some other functionality. On idex printer to use duex board for only one step driver there is no sens. One of reason for this is that DUET is very well documented. There is no reason to destroy a board.

Here are and the commands for setting firmware.
