Duet 3 expansion board proposal: heater controller array

Apologies if it's already been talked about, I couldn't find it.
I would like to see an expansion board that's mostly dedicated to more heaters. Maybe 9, 12 or 16.
I like how RRF easily handles multiple heaters per tool. I think I read it can have multiple heaters for the bed plate too.
I was thinking about tiling bed heater pads. Right now I don't have enough heater circuits left to even do a 2x2 array, and I might want to try a 3x3, 4x3 or 4x4 array. I'm aware custom heater pads can be made, I had commissioned a 800mm x 800mm heater a few years ago. But it might be more economical and more maintainable to just tile smaller pads, or even turn off pads if they're too far away from the current print. But for a larger bed would benefit from having a lot of heaters either to assure more even heating due to localized cooling effects.
