Hello, I'm looking for some good stepper motors to pair with my duet now that I can see the limitations of my Anet steppers in my prints. I'm guessing I want something that has a 0.9 degree step angle, with as much power handling capability as possible.

These look good for my X and Y axis:

and a pair of these would be nice for the Z axis:

My question is, why does the Z axis motor only have a step angle of 1.8 and not 0.9? would I be better off getting a 0.9 degree motor with a coupler??

      also, I saw these:

Are they compatible with the duet? I'm guessing no since it doesn't have removable drivers? I'm guessing the duet drivers are better anyways???

would I be better off getting a 0.9 degree

        T8 with 2mm pitch and 1.8 degrees step &16 microsteps = 360 / 1.8 * 16 / 2 = 1600 steps/mm

Plenty resolution I'd say. 0.9 degree steps would double the steps/mm and halve the max speed.

          T8 with 2mm pitch ...

          The lead is 8mm.

Wantai 42BYGHM810 & 42BYGHW811 are two steppers that max out what the Duet is capable of. One is a 1.8° the other is a 0.9° stepper.

I personally use the 1.8° ones and I am quite happy.

@wilriker Those seem interesting. They're a bit beefier current wise than the e3d ones. How did you find these? Also, Do you know anything about Moon's steppers? Why are they so expensive? I was reading that they were a slight upgrade for the Prussa i3, which would make them a pretty big upgrade from my Anet steppers. There must be something I'm missing in terms of why the Moons' motors are so expensive.

Edit:I see they've been talked about a bunch on these forums. I still don't get why the Moons' steppers are so expensive though 😕

@gtaman I don't know anything about Moon's steppers so I can't help you on that one.

As you already found out the Wantai steppers have been mentioned here in several occasions and that's how I got to them. I run them at only 1300mA for X and Y and with my (now no longer used) Anet 12V PSU they were happily throwing X and Y around at 250mm/s.
