M557 : How to define a mesh?
-
Again and I'm sorry, but I need help ...
I have a problem with the M557 command. No matter what I indicate as value, the dimensions of the sounding of the bed remain identical. If I indicate this value: M557 X0: 300 Y0: 300 S20 or M557 X30: 270 Y30: 270 S50 or other in Xxx: xx Yxx: xx Sxx this does not change absolutely the surface of movement of my probe and the number of points remain the same. and I do not understand the technical description https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Gcode#Section_M557_Set_Z_probe_point_or_define_probing_grid, because the translation of this coup is absolutely not understandable and does not bring much, except lose me a little more ...
My bed is 300X300.
Thank you

Hi
If you commands look like here in forum, then they dont work because you have spaces in wrong place.
So your M557 X0: 300 Y0: 300 S20 should look like this - M557 X0:300 Y0:300 S20 -
@aidar said in M557 : How to define a mesh?:
Ainsi, votre M557 X0: 300 Y0: 300 S20 devrait ressembler à ceci - M557 X0: 300 Y0: 300 S20
Thank you for your answer, however I do not see any difference in spacing ... It's a mistake to copy / paste or my glasses are no longer good? ;-(

So your M557 X0: 300 Y0: 300 S20 should look like this - M557 X0:300 Y0:300 S20
maybe this shows it clearer
M557 X0: 300 Y0: 300 S20
vs
M557 X0:300 Y0:300 S20
(not sure what the significance of the colour highlighting is but, its clearly different.

@bearer
Perfect, I just saw the difference! Thank you, I will test ...

Unfortunately, my spaces between the numbers are good ...
I do not understand. It is certain, I forget something or deceive me, but where?
I want on my bed of 300X300 to make 9 points to 3 cm of each edge of the bed, it does not seem to me an extraordinary feat anyway ...

If you use M557 with 'P' rather than 'S', you can define the number of points, rather than the spacing. And you want it to within 30mm of the edge of the bed, so try...
M557 X30:270 Y30:270 P9
This will probe 81 points on the bed when you run G29. If you only want 9 points in total, send:
M557 X30:270 Y30:270 P3
You can check what your current grid setting is by sending M557 on it's own.

Thank you, that brings me a lot of details ...
When I'm doing M557 alone, I get that:
Grid: X20.0: 285.0, Y20.0: 270.0, radius -1.0, X spacing 68.0, y spacing 68.0, 16 points
If I look at the command M557 in Config.g, I have: M557 X0: 300 Y0: 300 S20
I'm wondering if there is not somewhere a file or an order that gives priority to M557 Grid: X20.0: 285.0, Y20.0: 270.0, radius -1.0, X spacing 68.0, y spacing 68.0, 16 points
This would explain that no matter what value changes I make in Config.g they are not taken into account. no ?

I answer myself ...
I found in Bed.g I have my order M557 X20: 285 Y20: 270 S68
This is probably because I use G32 and I made a file Bed.
