Eureka! Fund a solution to my bowden problems.

This HEVO is my first printer with bowden (600mm) and I spent monthes trying to tweak it to get print quality that I like. It kind of worked but quality was far from my previous printers (MK10 and Flexion extruders).
Last week I had a Eureaka moment, what if I will move the extruder to the other side of the bowden tube, just next to the hot end. I printed a quick mount, installed the extruder on the other side of the bowden tube and wow! it prints like a champ and with retraction dialed down to 1mm and pressure advance at only 0.1 (used to be 1.2).
I love my modified bowden configuration.

Sounds like he made from bowden to (allmost) direct drive. I did it lately myself (also HEVO), well mine is direct drive, not allmost. Print quality is like day and night, cant be happier.

you now have a direct drive extruder.
the idea of the bowden is to move the extruder and motor off the axis, to have reduced weight.
what i did back when i was playing around with a hevo is to build an assembly that held the extruder and motor just slight above the center of the printer. this allowed for a short bowden tube.
however fast forward to now. my current version is a direct drive printer as well.

What extruder/stepper are you using?
Switching to a direct drive made a big difference for my printer. It's uses a BMG and a 150g Moon Nema17 stepper so medium weight but great precision in extrusion.
Before that I also tried a zesty but didn't get good quality either and it's kind of flimsy. The upcoming Flex3Drive Nema8 direct extruder is promising with total extruder + stepper weight of 75 is also interesting but now I am less concerned about the moving weight.
